Attendance and Punctuality

It is important for your child to arrive at school in good time in the morning to start the day in a relaxed and calm way. If children arrive late it is unsettling for them and their class and has a negative impact on learning.

Please make sure that your child is in the playground ready  to walk into school and begin learning at 9:00 am. We therefore recommend that you arrive ready to enter the gates at 8:55am

The KS2 playground will be opened at 8:55am.

For Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 the gates open at 8:55am.

If you need your child to be in school earlier than this time then please book them into Breakfast Club via Arbor.

The school gates are closed at 9:05 am. If you arrive after this time, you must take your child directly to the school office and sign them into the late book giving a reason why they are late for school.

If your child is absent from school, please contact the office on the first day of absence giving a reason for their absence.  Parents need to say what is wrong with their child. We cannot accept they are just unwell, we need to know what the illness is.

At the end of the day, the teachers will escort children to the main playground or Somerset Road entrance to ensure that they go home safely.

SCHOOL TARGET: Attendance target for each pupil is 97% and higher.

We do not expect families to take their children out of school for holidays.

Punctuality

Persistent lateness can:

  • Cause embarrassment to the child
  • Make it harder for the child to settle
  • Cause disruption to the rest of the class

Please see the Punctuality Pyramid below:
