Attendance and Punctuality

It is important for your child to arrive at school in good time in the morning to start the day in a relaxed and calm way. If children arrive late it is unsettling for them and their class and has a negative impact on learning.

Please make sure that your child is in the playground ready  to walk into school and begin learning at 8:50 am. We therefore recommend that you arrive prior to this time.

The main school playground will be supervised from 8.40 am. Parents of children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2  are asked to stay with their child until the gates open at 8:50 am

If you need your child to be in school earlier than this time then please book them into Breakfast Club.

The school gates are closed at 9:00 am. If you arrive after this time, you must take your child directly to the school office and explain your reasons why they are late for school.

Classes with the highest attendance and best punctuality for the week are announced on a Friday in our celebration assembly and are rewarded with extra playtime.

If your child is absent from school, please contact the office on the first day of absence.

At the end of the day, the teachers will escort children to the main playground or Somerset Road entrance to ensure that they go home safely.

SCHOOL TARGET: Attendance target for each pupil is 97% and higher.

We do not expect families to take their children out of school for holidays.
